Boston: Wells and Lilly, 1829. 1st edition. Two volumes. 8vo, cloth, 431,399 pages. Apart from some foxing, the text is very good. The covers are faded and worn at the spine ends and corners, with library lettering, labels and stamps. The joints are beginning to split nd the front hinges are cracked, with the front free endpaper of volume 1 missing. Lee was Joint Commissioner of the United States to the Court of France, and Sole Commissioner to the Courts of Spain and Prussia, during the Revolutionary War. The text includes his political and literary correspondence and his papers on diplomatic and political subjects, and the affairs of the United States during the same period.
